Nebraska GenCyber
Open, hands-on cybersecurity learning for students and educators.
Jointly funded by NSA and NSF, Nebraska GenCyber introduced secondary students and educators to cybersecurity through active, hands-on learning. Nine grants created career pathways for students while helping teachers integrate cybersecurity into their home districts.
Camps from 2016 through 2019 were recognized for combination curricula and early use of open-source, self-paced, and virtualized content delivery. After the 2020 pandemic postponement, the program returned for 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 before federal program changes and a moratorium in 2025–2026.
The open-source curriculum has reached more than 3,000 students across at least 13 states and recorded more than 55,000 content views across nine NSA/NSF award cycles.
