I teach practitioner-oriented computing courses. Students make things, test their assumptions, explain their choices, and revise their work.
Teaching philosophy
Challenge with a way through.
The goal is not to keep students comfortable. It is to keep difficult work approachable: a meaningful problem, a little uncertainty, timely feedback, and room to try again.
Labs and projects move from demonstration to supported practice to independent work. Mentorship continues through research, internships, capstones, independent studies, and graduate committees.

Secure Web Application Development
A heavily hands-on study of secure web application design across application code, server resources, databases, networks, access control, and user sessions.
Secure Mobile Development
Mobile, wearable, and IoT architectures and application development, with secure-design principles integrated into ideation, design, implementation, and testing.
Graduate Capstone
A culminating, semester-long project that demonstrates program mastery, beginning with project-management and research practices and often serving a community, industry, or government partner.
Cybersecurity Policy and Awareness
Planning and development for information governance, security policies and procedures, and organizational security-awareness programs.
Software Assurance
Building reasoned, auditable confidence that software will operate as expected, using a software-development-lifecycle perspective to prevent flaws.
Managing Information Assurance
Information-assurance management for executive IT students, including cloud and mobile security, IT governance and policy, and assurance planning and deployment.
Principles of Secure System Design
Security threats and responses, cryptography, program and operating-system security, database and network security, administration, and legal and ethical issues.
